A Hop Farm Turns to Brewery

A few years ago, Blake Arrowood, an English teacher in Southeast Asia, decided to become a farmer and cultivated 48 acres in the Hudson Valley, not far from New Paltz, N.Y. He grew hops along with rye, and raised ducks, too, and took on a brewing partner, Jacob Meglio, after the state passed legislation making it easier for farmers to brew beer. The farm now produces nine beers, including one made with organic rye. All are served at the farm, along with duck prosciutto made in-house.
